BGAN waveform for SDR
A complete waveform for the Inmarsat BGAN satellite system
The BGAN SDR (Software Defined Radio) waveform allows radio and terminal manufacturers to create unique products and military communications solutions. It is the first commercially available implementation of the BGAN physical and protocol layer stack and it is based on the existing GateHouse BGAN Protocol Stack, already incorporated in a large number of BGAN terminals from several suppliers.
The waveform is a result of the joint SDR program completed by GateHouse, Inmarsat and Spectrum Signal Processing by Vecima.
The waveform includes all the software necessary to use the BGAN services. The main components of the BGAN SDR terminal are:
1. SDR-4021 platform from Spectrum
2. BGAN waveform from GateHouse
3. L band front-end
4. BGAN class 10 active tracking antenna supplied by SpaceCom
The waveform can be certified as SCA compliant, and is designed for military as well as civilian use. The waveform is type approved by Inmarsat
